I read somewhere that a guy maintained a fully fit physique because he allowed himself one donut a day... ? I don't know how that works but his philosophy is that if you allow yourself to have a tiny amount of your craving in good portions, its better than restricting yourself from them and then inevitably crashing and eating bunch ? idk I always snack on caramel rice cakes for 50 calories

now thats a solid foundation. i do this myself and i find this strategy a life savor, not just with 'food' cravings but also, in the topic of social media, if you give yourself only 10-20mins not to scroll but to reply to messages. because if you don’t have a restricted time you'd end up doomscrolling.

As my cousin Ronnie would jokingly say at family reunions, I’m on the seafood diet—I see food, I eat it!! I have historically had a problem with overeating snacks and if I buy chips it’s really easy for me to eat them all in one sitting. I embrace an ingredients household mindset and try to only buy whole foods based snacks like cheese, nuts, etc that are so boring and wholesome they’re kind of hard to eat too much of them. Demonic food scientists and executives at corporate conglomerate food manufacturers, many of whom worked at cigarette companies in the past, have engineered hyper processed foods to be optimally addictive. I replace the chips I used to be addicted to with alternative snacks that use better ingredients and typically come in much smaller bags—I have yet to find my methadone for my drug of choice, HOT CHEETOS because I’m OPPRESSED and the bougie snack industry evidently doesn’t care about MY NEEDS—and I portion them out into bowls when I eat them then put the bag away. If you have some kind of an Uber Eats/Doordash problem then delete those apps because it’s too easy to just summon whatever you want whenever you want, on a whim. Make it so if you want to get food you have to go out and work for it. Add friction to counterbalance your impulsive nature! And when you eat, eat mindfully and slowly. Also if you’re regularly craving certain foods I hear that it can have something to do with nutritional imbalance so be mindful of that…

have been there 100% and have learned its much easier and more humane to yourself to trust your hunger cues rather than ignore them. literally doesn't have to be a huge production either, it can be a few spoonfuls of peanut butter or a piece of cheese or fruit. also it helps to have your choice of little beverage through the day which will keep you hydrated and increase satiety

i didn’t go to the gym yesterday because i was bestowed with an ailment. as a result, i had convinced myself that i could not have a sweet treat, until i remembered that i don’t have to earn the cookie i was craving. depriving myself of something just because i had not “earned“ it is such a toxic mentality that is normalised within today’s culture. eating in moderation is more than fine, depriving yourself pleasures and basic needs is not.
