love love love the princess diaries, i'd even go as far to say that it isn't objectively bad! i've been rereading it on and off for 10 years and i still find it pretty coherent, the characters are well built and i love that they actually think and act like teenagers (ie the author doesn't force her characters to make out of character decisions for the good of the story, she actually lets them makes silly 15 year old mistakes) the writing style is definitely tween adjacent but the series stays miles better than the movies in my heart
I have many, but this is my comfort film of choice atm. It sort of sits apart from others of its teen genre at the time I think - funnier, less cheesy. All the side characters are great and the love interest is both an actually good person and not the whole point of the film.
goofy 90s roadtrip-ish movie. lots of sweet and surprising moments, definitely had me GIGGLING, and it’s under 90min. also it’s by the guy who directed superbad
