like half my class was talking about using ai for their assignments literally while my professor was with us and i was going crazy. like 1. why would you admit that, ESPECIALLY with our professor listening, 2. you are literally studying how to research and write WTF ARE YOU NOT DOING THAT YOURSELF. drives me crazy!!!!!

istg students these days really just wanna get nothing out of their classes AA.... i was curious, so i asked AI to generate a lit paper based on the prompts my teacher gave, but literally??? the quotes that i asked it to give from the book/source material WEREN'T EVEN IN THE BOOK. also the writing style that AI tends to write in is SO BLAND. so boring. no cool literary devices. no fun nuance. ts pmo </3 i took that opportunity to hate-write a 5,000 word essay instead. i got over a 100 on that essay.

@WAAXFEATHERS literally!! ai is horrible with citations, why would you even risk that in your essays!! it also annoys me to no ends that apparently people think colons/semi colons and 'em dashes are indicative of ai writing, leave my besties alone!! one of my irl besties got into an issue with their professor who thought they used ai because their writing was “too good”…in a senior level college course…ughhhhhh ai pisses me off >:((

AI in school

this is a pretty common one, but in my grad program there were people using AI to write papers/homework assignments/projects and then patting themselves on the back like they found some kind of life hack. they all graduated and have decent jobs but man was that a bleak omen of what education is becoming.

ANTI-REC: AI IN EVERY SINGLE APP

i genuinely don’t understand the need for an “assistant“ in every app now, it reminds me of how social media apps would copy each other to death, fighting to become the most popular one. remember when ig copied snapchat stories, or threads as the new twitter, the new be-real-like feature on ig, etc…?? except it’s even worse with this. people keep tagging freaking grok everywhere for nonsense on twt, there’s meta AI in every meta app, and now idk if they made Siri function with AI tech (i looked it up and there wasn’t a definite answer, but if anyone knows please tell me!!!). my obvious biggest concern is the environment, while the rise of anti-intellectualism is also at bay. i’m also tired of my university profs pushing AI onto me in an effort of trying to seem more modern. genuinely, i don’t think there’s anything that pisses me off more than chatgpt.

YES BUT SO FAR THE ACADEMIC EFFECT IS SMALL

Our professor had half of us use AI for essays and then graded them. The ones that were written using mostly AI all ended up getting low grades, not because he detected them, but simply because they were poorly written. I am studying English so the demands are fairly high, but it was still a relief. AI is not there yet in most academic fields
