Maybe this began because we’ve been making show posters for years. Regardless, it’s great fun to establish the theme of your parties and disseminate useful information… no good party happens these days without a poster.

I live in a suburb and have no clue how anyone builds community, but I'm trying to learn. For half a year, I had a monthly part that included movie nights, dinners, and trivia, one of which was French Salon-themed. We all dressed in 19th-century garb, spoke about philosophy, and played the game Dirty Laundry (Thx Dropout). I shut off all the lights in my house and only used candles for the evening. I spent fifteen hours straight cooking and custom menus. Similar night themes included: Tumblr Party, Coming of Age Film, Lesbian Movie Night, Scooby Doo, Summer's End, etc. Overall, good community-building effort, will do it again. Side Note: Despite its career effects on graphic designers, no one has a stranglehold on me more than Canva when making party invitations.

there's something elevating and unifying when we get outside of ourselves with others, when we let our guard down, when we stop giving a damn about our dignity I suspect that most people want to let their hair down, want to let go of the uptight facade, want to move past the performance pressure to be perpetually cool But it's hard to be the first one to do it, so you've got to show people that it is fun and okay to do this Having a themed party seems like a great start Adding in some group activities, I don't know, just making this up right now, like a "funny walks contest" or bobbing for apples — I mean, I've never bobbed for apples, but what does bobbing for apples do: it gets you wet, awkward, looking silly, and that gets us to where we want to be: having unadulterated fun, memorably, together

Ever since the cheese ball guy we have been in a new era. Print out a poster on a4 paper and staple it to a queen street pole and people just show up?!! Truly proving that we gen z can still socialize in real life and I love it!

The visual world of our record (as well as the sound) was heavily inspired by quilt making and folk art in general. Every hooked rug I’ve seen possesses this distinct, strange quality… it must be difficult to render things accurately in the medium because animals always end up looking like vague, childlike representations of what they are. It’s really beautiful!

We’ve been longtime fans of scouring the Smithsonian Open Access domain. I recently came upon the “Artful Cats” section, which is a selection devoted to cat-related art. The people at the Smithsonian Public Domain are doing good work.

Some jam in the average grilled cheese goes a long way, or the BEC on the french toast bagel (try it)… elevates any meal and breaks the binary.
