Shows are impossible to go to, now. The entire Ticketmaster platform is filled with scalpers that TM choose to foster, rather than ensure that fans can see artists perform. (Yes, I'm salty because yet another performer's presale is on and tickets are "Verified Resale" for $500+ each.) I just want so badly for everyone to stop spending thousands of dollars on shit seats so the industry caves in on itself and makes way for progress. Concerts are not supposed to be this way, and we aren't getting there if people keep throwing a $2000 ticket on their credit card for 300-level seats. Don't be the frog boiling in the water, HOP OUT OF THE POT!

9 times out of 10, I can only get tickets to arena shows if I luck out and get a presale code from Spotify. It's a nightmare. I only lucked out with Ethel Cain because they added a couple London shows too many and they didnt immediately sell out 😭 The infuriating thing is, big artists CAN influence this stuff. Iron Maiden refused surge pricing for this year's tour and i'm pretty sure resale tickets are capped at face value. Idk how much sway you have if you're not making Iron Maiden money, but the options are there!!!

Trying my best to revert back to being optimistic, but I will make an exception for ticket scalpers. I absolutely love live music, but have missed dozens of concerts that I could afford because of reselling prices. It's inevitable to want to see a show from a big artist now and again, but go to your local venue or bar for good live music too. You never know who's going to be there.

even though the show is in a city you do not live in and you can’t realistically afford an airbnb or hotel for the night πŸ’‹ bc who knows when the next tour will be, or if they blow up and then you never get the small venue experience again.

Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh and Girl On Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves by Sophie Gilbert. I'm really enjoying both, despite how many times Girl On Girl punches me in the gut with lines like, "Movies in the aughts hated women."

After three, I say something like, "oh, wow" or if it's my partner, I jokingly say "stop it".

Part rec, part documenting my headspace right now. My last few moves in my city have been chaotic and unwanted, to say the least. After an incredibly stressful loss of my last apartment, I was so privileged to have been able to spend my last three years living alone for the first time in my life, healing myself and figuring out how to navigate life coming out of active survival mode. I leave my little studio apartment in less than two weeks to move into a new place, choice I got to make for myself, and a living situation I get to plan for, rather than having been forced into. I've always been able to make a home for myself anywhere I go, but this is the first time I get to do it because I made the choice to, not despite my circumstances. It's feeling good!
