A very millennial interpretation of postmodern and existential litâthe entire novel is filled with deadpan, self-aware cynicism. The narrator mocks everything â art, relationships, ambition â yet still seems to be searching for meaning.
I loved this thoughtful book. Ticks every box I needed:
- an ode to the transformative power of reading
- a contemplation of love, relationships and family
- a short read to get out of a slump
The piece of mind that comes from the ability to let go of thoughts and situations that are outside of our control has been pure bliss for me. This book opened my mind to the concept of detaching from external validation and got me to focus more on myself
Classic Salvadoran dish, simple and mellow chicken broth and veggies with a side of chicken leg and thigh + Salvadoran tortillas, a must when hitting up ur local Salvi spot
Incredibly detailed world building here taking the reader to the bustling and sacred city of TenochtitlĂĄn, apart form the wonderful detail the dialog here itâs the fact that Enrigue was able to focus on and capture the humanity and awkwardness of a clash of two worlds. Would love to see this translated as a film, gives Tarantino + Sofia Coppolaâs "Marie Antoinette"
