In the running for probably my favorite book of all time. I wanted to be Anne so bad when I read this book for the first time when I was eleven. Since then I have reread this probably five or six times. The ultimate springtime read — makes you cool with being alive again . My copy is from 1968 and basically ripped in half. If you have a tendency to be a miserable bitch who feels sorry for themselves you need some Anne pronto. I will never watch the show or movie because the book is so perfect in my little mind I don’t want anything to ruin it. PEI is my ultimate destination.
When I first started reading this I was in shock because I didn’t know people were allowed to write books like this — so incredibly honest in an almost jarring way. I’m already re-reading it.
The book is only around 65 pages and is a reflection on a passionate affair Annie had with a married man. She was so obsessed with him in, at times, a very relatable way. It feels so intimate, like you’re reading a personal diary.
asks how much of yourself you can lose before you are lost”. this book had made such an impact on me. as i experience loss and grief for the first time in my life, marcken incredibly illustrates this strange spooky story of the perspective of the undead, and what thoughts and feelings arise within that world. tucked into 123 pages lies a story like no other story ive read before. this angelic yet haunting book must be read. if you want a confusing yet profound story that leaves you wondering wtf you just read, read this. and then read it again and again.
I’ve famously always said June should be the first month of the year. It is when the year truly begins. I’m not even awake or paying attention to anything until the sun starts setting past eight. The anticipation of summer is over but you still have the whole thing in front of you.
If you find the right one, it’s the best job ever. Free food and drinks, amazing gossip and new tea every day, so much human contact. I love serving I love bartending. You get to wear cute little outfits and flirt for tips. Finding the RIGHT restaurant is the key. many are shitty to work in. You gotta find one you believe in, if that makes sense.
