peter griffin started saying in 1999 that all one sees is violence in movies and sex on tv but i really dont think that is true nowadays. in a post liveleaks world big hollywood thinks i dont want to see fake violence because of how often i see real violence in my day to day. they couldnt be more fuking wrong. i love graphic violence in movies. i love it when they add the gnarly sound effects and the super red faking looking blood and crazy sfx. a nasty on screen death will make me hornier than a gas station pink pussy pill ever could. real violence is just disturbing. i relapse on true crime videos once every 6 months or so and every time i stop it's because the feeling of guilt and fear build up in my soul until theyre too much to handle. there are real people involved with hopes and dreams and people who loved them. there's none of that with on screen violence. you meet a charater, they get torn into pieces, you squeal and groan in disgust and fascination, you go home, the actors get paid, nobody gets hurt. it's like pressing on a slightly tender bruise over and over again. it's addicting but ultimately harmless. i dont think video game violence is the same. it's fun to run people over in gta but i have no desire to enact violence, even digitally. i just to watch it in shocking detail

There’s soooo many different kinds. I love The Thing but I’ll never watch Saw…… where is the line

@HAILEYD4WN i think the line is persona. i wrote this after seeing death proof and i love schlocky 70s exploitation style horror. my best friend in middle school was really into way grosser more violent shit that i found unstomachable but then my friend in hs couldn’t handle even implied violence. he probably saw the stuff i like the same way i saw the stuff my old friend liked. it’s a spectrum 🤷🏿‍♀️

although Violence is just corny to me sometimes Its harmless sure but is it that interesting? i feel like theres more potential in violence to be boring than something like drama because of the different possibilities violence kind of falls within dimilar bounds

@BEFOREEVERYTHING i mean i think it’s about context and skill. if i wanna see something brutal then any drama would be boring and vice versa. also i think grindhouse has a leg up on more “respectable“ genres bc even bad violence gives you something while youre watching it. if a drama fails to hit its emotional beats then it’s a flop but if the practical effects in a horror movie are dogshit it’s still fun to watch

what a downgrade the virgin “who is the REAL bad guy? morality is complicated!” No Time to Die vs. the Chad “fuck with my village and I’ll kill all of you” Apocalypto meanwhile one shows violence and death like a video game and the other gross and traumatic

i love gore and blood and guts and i love weird bodily transformations and cool practical effects and most importantly i love fucked up freak shit. i also love when a piece of art makes me feel a little sick and uncomfortable in my own skin, inducing a bodily response is a high honor for something simply happening on a screen. i also feel particularly seen by the genre - it seems like there's a body horror movie for nearly every aspect of the discomfort i feel with my own body and how it relates to my place as a woman (anything fargeat, anything ducournau, swallow (2019), ginger snaps (2000), blue my mind (2018), dans ma peau (2002)... i'm definitely forgetting some) so i find these films very cathartic and special david cronenberg is the king of this genre, so if you're not super familiar with it, start with him.. videodrome (1983) is my favorite!!

the unflinching type of depravity you expect to see in 480p on effedupmovies.com, not in a chain theatre, yet made me want to be much kinder to myself watch if you like: cronenberg, troma, having physical reactions to art, being a gorgeous woman in a tiny glittery dress i also recommend fargeat’s other film revenge (2017) which is similarly gnarly.. one thing i love about her style is when her brain cooks up something uniquely gruesome she wants her audience to see every bit of it, not a single cut away in either movie

we're losing the holy war to virgins and wattpaders. males would rather spend an evening watching sissy hypno jois than fucking a real life woman. lesbian cinema has been plagued by the yearndemic as if hollywood can't imagine two women wanting to go at it nasty style. all the fasion forcasters are saying oversized utilitarian shlop is in for 2025. dating apps practically let you mail order cock to your house and yet we're fucking less than ever. what the fuck is going on? when reagan was in office robert mapplethorpe taking photos of a guy in a gimp suit with a cum guzzling tube coming from his mouth. we need that back. i think latex is one of the few materials that trancends the digital hellscape we're living in right now. it engages the senses. you can look at a photo of someone wearing latex and know exactly what it smells like and tastes like and feels like. it's the closest one can get to nudity while being fully clothed. it tantalizes because it relies so heavily on implication. in an era where you can get on the internet and view 4k photos of body parts the victorians only saw after a decade of marriage, latex delays gratification by forcing the observer to fill in the blanks. the people in office are trying to scrub the earth of anything they find perverse and replace artists with thieving robots who only work because of the centuries of human creativity that came before them. fantasy is one of the only things unique to human sexuality. we need to be reveling in it, not supressing it!!!
