Really good folk post rock album. Very cathartic album for zoning out and contemplating. Pretty entrancing live, saw them at the Rockwell theater in Somerville, where they were standing in a circle facing each other playing through their songs. Their tiny desk is worth a watch as well.
Somehow I missed this -- BCNR celebrated their spot on Rough Trade's album of the year list with a bunch of covers, including Caroline Polachek, The Magnetic Fields, Billie Eilish and Regina Spektor. Caroline one is great :))))
i love the slow build of caroline's album to the more complex and disjointed tracks like engine and hurtle before it mellows out again. makes it all feel so cohesive and like one 45 min song
I’ve been talking about hanging up these things for nearly a year and yesterday I was struck with the realization that I can just DO it. So I did and it’s been making me so happy every time I walk in the room.
Just do the thing. Hang the photo, rearrange the furniture, paint the accent wall. You can always change it back (but you probably won’t even want to).
🚙 Drive to a nearby(ish) town you've never been to and visit a local business.
🎨 Use stuff you already have at home to make intentionally bad art (ex. a painting, collage, or even a poem).
🏛️ I bet there's something in your town/city that you've been meaning to do (like a museum or tourist attraction you've never been to or maybe a new coffee shop). Go visit it with a friend you've been wanting to spend more time with.
Variety is so important to the experience of life. Would love to know if you pick one of these and do it! :)
