stumbling upon this campaign was the highlight of my day.
@GREG had previously shown me the Gorillaz x AndrĆ© 3000 x James Murphy/LCD Soundsystem song āDo Ya Thingā and I was blown away.
the āThree Artists, One Songā campaign released songs by unlikely collaborators, and itās probably the coolest thing converse has ever done.
some other collabs include Santigold x Julian Casablancas x N.E.R.D/Pharell Williams and Frank Ocean x some members of The Clash (Mick Jones, Paul Simonon) x Diplo.
i linked a youtube playlist compiling these songs but i highly recommend checking out the 13 min version of āDo Ya Thingā !!!!!!!

Whether it's Iggy Pop and the Stooges meeting Salt n Pepa (2ManyDJs were the masters)
Or this one -- Sigur Ros spliced into Mobb Deep (how Portland DJ Emancipator ever thought to do that, I'll never know -- not even the keys are the same, G# and Bflat minor)
There's a cleverness and "whiff of the unexpected" that either makes these work or fall flat.

NYC's cultural peak was obviously the pre-AIDS crisis melange of salsoul/rap/punk/funk/electro/avant jazz, somehow here represented by this monstrous percussion track by downtown ensemble KONK (featuring Richard Edson of Stranger Than Paradise fame)

all of the songs on this album fade into each other. š¤© itās what made me appreciate the art of the album when i was 15/16, and i still love to listen it in full from time to time, when the season is apt. you not only get great stand alone songs but also a thorough piece of art that helps curate the albumās feel. i love love love this album!!

i actually have no shame in bumping this song, but #society makes me feel like i should. it is THE song of the 2000s, no debate. makes me feel like i should be filming myself lip syncing on photo booth with every filter possible and uploading it to youtube
