I was shamed by French Duolingo lately about showing up to a dinner avec les mains vide and so I’ve been trying to be better at that. I say that I dont actually love through gift giving but given the abundance of it in Chinese culture, i actually do…it feels a more longer standing gesture by means of its physical state than a dissolving parting word. It’s a little surprise to the room, a token of appreciation. Even if not much, a little goes a long way. (Turns out ring pops go hard at birthday partiies)

having a winter activity to look forward to like skiing has done tremendous good to my livelihood in the winter. But this was, and continues to be however financially and logistically inaccessible for a lot of people. The default way through it is through collective communal gathering and bathe in fatigue. While it’s nurturing, how can you get the jitters out living in a city when the weather can be so alienating ?
