Its truly the key to never having "nothing to eat at home" syndrome. I'm still trying to build up my pantry in my lowly college house, but I remember my mom always having jars of home-canned tomatoes, flours, dried fruits, brown sugar, nuts and seeds, dry beans, rice --- the core of good meals. Also a great way to stop buying so much frozen goods at Trader Joes.
Things I want to acquire for pantry:
- toasted sesame oilÂ
- white wine vinegar (already have red)
- almonds, roasted (whole and slivers)
- almond butter
- tinned fish? (someone give me recs)
- farro and barley
- jams, jellies, preserves
- canned tomatoes
