When I was little, I was super interested in science! There was this one album for kids by the band They Might Be Giants that had songs about a bunch of different basic science concepts like photosynthesis, the periodic table, cells/DNA, etc and I listened to it on repeatttt
I also remember getting so excited about learning the butterfly life cycle in kindergarten and drawing out the whole diagram on our patio with chalk so I could explain it to my parents (who humored me because they thought it was cute)
As I grew up, I moved away from STEM because I was worried my brain wasn't built for it. It sounds ridiculous looking back, but I guess that's how imposter syndrome works haha. I also had a pretty bad generalized anxiety disorder that made it tough for me to make it through lab classes that involved precise steps and hazardous materials.
After I graduated highschool, I started anxiety meds and sort of re-evaluated what I wanted to spend my life doing.
Long story short, I'm studying biology now! I'm especially interested in informatics, data visualization, and scientific communication, which checks out with that little life cycle diagram story I guess haha
