So after 12 days of reading the secret history by Donna Tartt, i honestly don’t get the hype AT ALL. Spoilers alert for sure. The first book was interesting for sure, we got to assist some events and got some suspense out of it, we even tend to think that they were about to get caught! But the second part … SO BORING, the funeral part was too long to handle, i was so close to DNF it, i was just wanting it to end to know what Will happen, but as i finished it i was DISAPPOINTED! Like THAT’S IT ? Where is the twist ? Where is the suspense ? Julian was barely present … and Henry ? What a coward move buddy at the end. I would say at max it deserves a 3 starts on 5.

what a trip haha i came across her book the other day via an interview between her and Charlie Rose, so I started the audiobook. I was wondering if her novel was still relevant today so it’s crazy there’s someone here reading it at the same time lol haven’t finished but it’s been somewhat enjoyable so far, just getting over the rootedness of it being in academia and hyperly class-driven culture (which can be annoying to me personally) but I can already see what you’re saying about it being overhyped , I think it may just be a romantic narrative for college students to have enjoyed and fantasize about at the time, when people actually cared about school and status a tad bit more

I'm ridiculously behind and everyone has probably already read it. But I finished Gone Girl a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it. The suspense, dual unreliable narrators, and strange intimacy you sense between them...phenomenal. You start by thinking Nick (the husband) doesn't know his wife at all and that he has just projected all his self-loathing onto her. Then you realize he wasn't entirely wrong and you didn't know Amy either. You don't know them but you do. They don't know each other but they do they do they do. The titular theme that you can never really know someone (yet you also can) summarized in these lines from the first page: What areĀ youĀ thinking? How areĀ youĀ feeling? Who areĀ you? What have ... What haveĀ weĀ done toĀ each other?Ā What will we do? *funny note 1: this was my 3rd attempt at reading Gone Girl over the past 4 years. every time i tried to read it i could never get to Amy's part because i just haaaaatedddd Nick so much i couldn't bear to be in his head any longer. *funny note 2: my boyfriend was extra cautious around me and even a little anxious while i was reading LMAO *sidenote: the movie was fine. i thought the pacing was a little fast, but understandable. what i didn't like was you didn't see any of Nick's internal monologue, so he just seems like a regular bum kind of a dick. when really he's like a huge piece of shit.

I finished my third book for this year. It was ā€œThe silent patientā€. When i tell you i screamed ā€œ WHAT THE FUCK ā€œ once i read the plot at the END! i still have many unanswered questions because it felt incomplete but the manipulation was REAL !

popcorn gives good girl, bad blood by holly jackson three stars āļøāļøāļø this book is the second in the good girl’s guide to murder series and follows our main character pip as she investigates her friend’s brother’s disappearance. this book was very slow in popcorn’s opinion. this makes it more realistic - of course a high schooler trying to solve a mystery would need to take a break to go to school - but it was a slog until the 70% mark. the characters with the exception of ravi weren’t as enjoyable in this book either. the overall mystery was not as compelling as the first book and there were so many characters to keep track of that even when the bad guys were revealed, popcorn wasn’t as shocked because he simply couldn’t remember who they were. anyway follow for more recommendations by popcorn.

I can’t find the Creator and i am mad about it because i wanna credit the one who made sure to put this for free. I’ve found this website RetroPrint where they show the details of how you can make a Windows 95 customised theme on your phone (with over 800 icons app to choose from 27 of them are already made for the modern apps like netflix twitter etc - some graphics for the widgets too And 3 sounds.)

The fact that i can stay in bed warm with my phone or laptop and music in the background as i watch my favourite movies/series/youtube vids with a warm tea is simple enough to make me grateful for wherever i am today. Worrying about what I should wear to work is a beautiful thing because it’s a privilege that sadly some people can’t afford :( Complaining about to cook is a beautiful thing because someone somewhere sadly can’t even afford/have access to a simple bread piece. Literally feeling the warmth of the sun while standing waiting for the bus is a beautiful thing to cherish and be grateful for.

If there is one style that literally calms me is stippling. The endless dots, the slow process, the nuance effect, the final results. I just love it and appreciate it even more when i spend hours/days to finish one.
