A YouTube photographer, Madison Beach, once set herself the goal of getting 50 or 100 rejections from her photo submissions in one year. Try thinking of applying for jobs the same way. Look at every application or interview as a step toward a goal in and of itself. Even the most qualified person is going to apply to dozens of jobs before getting a position. Each application represents another step on that path. Every interview makes you more prepared for the next. I’ve also heard the advice that you should want to uncomfortable in any new job because that means you are challenging yourself and giving yourself the opportunity to learn and get better. This is easy for me to say, harder for someone to follow!

Maybe apply and do the interview and shoot for it! Even if you get denied you will probably learn what the employer is looking for and you can continue to hone your skills in a more specific way. The worst thing they can say is no !

of course you will be hurt by a rejection, that’s pretty natural. I just went through the whole job process and got probably 15 rejections and all of them I figured if they didn’t want me then 1. They’re missing out 2. I wouldn’t want to work for a company that doesn’t recognize what I’m worth anyways. The fact that you even had the willingness to leave a bad work environment and make a change is an achievement in itself. keep going, the reality of job searches are that it takes a lot more rejections to get a few acceptances. Be proud of yourself for where you’ve gotten to, and go into each job posting or whatever it might be with the attitude that the right employer will recognize what you’re worth and take you on. Good luck

Also look for tips on résumés and online applications to try to increase your odds. It’s completely normal to have to send out hundreds of resumes in order to get your foot in the door!

The occupation persists, the oppression persists, the torture persists. The occupiers are psychotic and their work is never finished. People who’ve paid attention won’t be surprised by this photo from Gaza.

I’m 50, I say because that makes me unusual in this context. I paid [redacted] for a ticket to the Eras Tour after listening to tswift for 3 weeks, and it was worth it. In second grade my teacher gave kids birthday spankings over her knee, and in sixth grade my teacher told my mom I hadn’t blossomed yet. I’m a good friend, mostly to people on the internet. I’m good at conversing with strangers. I’m usually the oldest person at the show but don’t feel like it. I’m good at being helpful. I’m sarcastic and funny and make myself laugh. I’m a good graphic designer and a conscientious driver. I’m a good photographer and I can successfully follow recipes. I don’t use my Peloton enough. I did a lot of caregiving for my mom for several years, and we enjoyed spending time together even if it was mostly in waiting rooms and my car. The fastest I ever ran a mile was eight minutes and six seconds. I drove the same car for 20 years and then replaced it with another one. I enjoy tipping, giving money to people on the street and Disneyland. I am a fan of baseball, Formula 1 racing and the Criterion Channel. I solve about 80% of New York Times crosswords. I take Prozac and Wellbutrin, and take Trazodone to sleep through the night. I wish I had a glassed in solarium so I could sleep in it on rainy nights. I would like to have a pet cat and a garage. I could happily live eating only cereal and fruit. I overshare on the internet and undershare elsewhere. ✌️💛
