our (my roommates and i) living room was big enough that it did not make sense to have a single tv / couch setup, so we bisected it into two pieces: the media side, and the gaming side. these pieces can be further divided: there are two couches on the media side, and a recliner, lounge chair, and various beanbags on the gaming side. as an introvert, i really value spaces that allow for the division of one big party into smaller tiny groups, and our living room does this beautifully. at least four separate conversations can occur in it at the same time without incident, but we’ve left the pathways large enough that it is easy for you to move between each conversational space without disrupting much of anything. sometimes i am not in the mood to talk, but having the option to jump in and out of different groups as-needed is really reassuring, and i feel its absence when i am at functions at other places

there's few better ways of showing/feeling love than inviting others to live with you for days at a time, just to spend time together

If three of your friends live in a house or unit together consider couch hopping there if you need to. I haven’t got to see my friends for like a month and now I get to sleep in their lounge room! I got to watch my best friend play Batman Arkham City last night which is so amazing because I love catwoman.

spent the last two weeks working on an interactive guide, recommendations database, and digital library (link depot) to help get people off of social media. the first draft is done now, and it's at the link to this post. it's still very much a work in progress (the library is especially thin atm) - which is why i wanted to share it here before unleashing it upon my IRL friends and the general public. i welcome any and all feedback, bug reports, and suggestions for things to add. i will be pushing updates to it out like a madman in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back every so often to see new additions to the database and library. additionally, i am still on the hunt for newsletters from local venues / community organizations / magazines / newspapers, etc. the only cities i have remotely covered so far are nyc, orlando, denver, brisbane, and little bits of worcester and chicago. if you know anything in your area that fits the bill, send it my way!
