james had his finger on the pulse. i was first introduced to him via Sunny's Blues. what does it mean to be an artist nowadays? is it this feeling of the ice in your veins? ice that's starting to melt because you feel the passion of your work, of your dreams? i really liked Giovanni's Room... i think we all had that lover that we kept quiet in a room somewhere. maybe if the world knew of this love it would become tainted in a way. the vulnerability of this short but sweet book. if you have to hide your love ~ is it love? pour one out for james.

One of my all time favorite books and I would sell my kidneys to read it for the first time. ā€œDo you think anything else under heaven really matters? And how long, at the best, can it last? since you are both men and still have everywhere to go? Only five minutes, I assure you, only five minutes, and most of that, hĆ©las! in the dark. And if you think of them as dirty, then they will be dirty—they will be dirty because you will be giving nothing, you will be despising your flesh and his. But you can make your time together anything but dirty; you can give each other something which will make both of you better—forever—if you will not be ashamed, if you will only not play it safe.ā€ He paused, watching me, and then looked down to his cognac. ā€œYou play it safe long enough,ā€ he said, in a different tone, ā€œand you’ll end up trapped in your own dirty body, forever and forever and forever—like me.ā€ I cried for 2 days straight after reading this.. TWO DAYS!! My favorite excerpt from the entire book. James Baldwin is a genius and may his heavenly soul rest in peace.

Short and enthralling, with prose that is both breezy and profound and a simple yet confounding story. It’s like a snapshot of someone’s heart. I think the scenery and emotion of this book brought about a natural and gorgeous visualization of the story, which is wonderful to experience.

Growing up my mom always said "always have your mini skirt and high heel boots ready." Rewatching The Nanny I see where she may have gotten it from. Fran Drescher is a timeless style icon. A sexy appeal that wasn't too much in your face and yet still possesed that allure.

Film needs to make a comeback. Dark rooms, chemicals, film reels. I know polaroids are common nowadays but lets bring back disposable cameras, 35mm pocket cams, kodak developing centers at cvs. (Polaroid I took at a photoshoot 5 years ago.)
