i ditched my apple watch over a year ago bc i just thought it was ugly and considered replacing with an oura ring but tbh i had a baby and the biggest thing i got out of that experience besides the baby was trust in my body. i don’t think i need any special tech subscription to tell me im tired or i didn’t sleep great last night or i should take it easy on my workout today. a quick glance at fb marketplace tells me a lot of others feel the same.

I wore a Fitbit for 12 years, if you can believe it. Flagrantly sharing my bodily data with a tech company who has since been purchased by Google. I know we all carry a phone with us and our cars have trackable GPS. But damn, I want to be less online, less trackable. Why does Google need to know my heart rate (literally how intimate is that)? Also, learning that the recommended 10,000 steps a day was made up by a marketing company… blew my mind. As long as I’m moving my body and taking good care, I don’t need to track my steps. I finally kicked the smartwatch from my wrist and am getting excited about the time-telling possibilities. Here are two ā€œinner child healingā€ options I’ve acquired: a pale pink Baby G from Tokyo and a candy necklace-inspired Swatch.

You, yes you. Put down your phone. Remove all electronics from your person and exist for a moment. Sing a song. Or jump up and down. Scream. Or go outside and take a deep breath. Pet the damn dog. Feel connected to humanity by disconnecting. The skin where you wear your Apple Watch needs some sun so go outside and get some. Don’t track that workout this time; don’t worry it still counts even if you don’t close your rings. Yes this post is advice for myself as much as it is for others.

listen i got bit by the bug back in college when naked juice got in trouble for mislabeling their ingredients and i got a check for $2. but in the past year or so i’ve made $300 EACH from cases against zoom, tiktok, and t-mobile in which they misled consumers or misused our data. this is the last vestige of justice out there. companies are evil and they should be paying for it and they should be paying me!! at this point in my career i get targeted ads for these things because i actually click through the links but i can share some of the firms in the comments if you’re interested šŸ‘€
