Man I love college radio. I love our little studio with literally anything and everything pasted on the walls, twenty years worth of zines and music posters, and every electrically-powered lamp/light form possible illuminating the room in different colors. I love playing whatever the fuck I want on air and gabbing with my co-host in between songs, with the occasional giggle being sent into the radio void. 🌀🌀

I’m a DJ at my local station, KGLT :) it’s so fun! People at the grocery store and stuff stop me and tell me about how much they love my show sometimes. Super rewarding and wholesome.
I also love using spinitron for an alternative to streaming algorithm radio when I want to hear something new (I work a warehouse job so I can’t always DJ for myself). it has live streaming from like, 300 stations across the country. super super fun. Today I found this station in Maine and the DJ on air was this guy who hasn’t done a show for 30 years playing a bunch of forgotten Maine jam bands that were super sick - can’t get that stuff from the Spotify algo

there’s not much that’ll make you feel like a person existing with your own thoughts and feelings until you start tuning into community radio stations, where the biggest sponsor is the local animal shelter.
they’re doing some of the most fun stuff over there, because radio is whatever they want it to be! and it’s such a fun way to get cool music recommendations. On college radio stations especially, there are often communist programs and book clubs, which we love. But check out your local radio’s website and see what’s up n coming.
Just, great stuff all around. Something about scheduled programs or DJ sets that you look forward to listening heals the body I think. Slower gratification, something or another.
And you don’t need to be in the car to tune in, there are tons of radio apps available to supplement your spotify time.

life becomes totally awesome. forcing people in your greater area to listen your music taste and listen to your thoughts no holds barred is incredible. anyways tune into radio rebels 2-4 am every monday morning 🙆♀️
