Took me a while to settle on a gym in the neighborhood after moving. I started out at Blink which feels like a mistake in hindsight. The equipment at the Y is new (cardio equipment has wireless chargers, which, as a girl with perpetually dead devices, is a major perk) the weight room may be small but it’s manageable imo. Sauna and steam room really sold me. Might start going to the adult ballet classes

I am a rec center evangelist - my mom is an avid swimmer so my sister and I spent our youth at the jungle gym, ping pong tables, and outdoor pool at the Tennis and Swim center in our neighborhood. We were raised in the women's locker room, seeing bodies at all ages and stages, and that was the *healthiest* part of growing up in the valley. Now, I live walking distance from the best rec center in the city and take classes there 3-5 times a week. I just discovered this class called Nia that's basically modern dance but martial arts inspired (?!) and my friends and I gather at the outdoor pool in the summers and my sister meets me every Saturday morning for Zumba and I've found a magical yin yoga class that has drastically increased my flexibility and I do all of this for the annual price of $200...have I converted you yet?

I take a yoga class every Saturday at a studio in Clinton Hill where the teacher has a ashtanga background and I really like it because its fairly intense and gets me sweating.
