Two of the most depressing films ever. Both very different films, but both devestating and great.

devastating watch but still a film I really loved. I think the way this film captures trauma and pain is incredible, and for me, it does that best towards the end โ€“ through conversation and the final monologue. I didnโ€™t expect to cry as much as I did. and I didnโ€™t expect to feel as heavy as I currently do after watching it.

i stared at a wall for 2 hours afterwards. genuinely such a beautiful, heart-wrenching insight on trauma and how it can affect people years and years later. it made me feel empty, yet so seen and understood. it does a good job at being respectful while still being brutally honest. itโ€™s a hard watch at times, but would definitely recommend.

The Florida Project - a bittersweet movie depending on which ending you subscribe to Aftersun - a slow and subtle build to a heart breaking climax The Iron Claw - a devastating movie based on an even more devastating true story Sing Sing - overall a hopeful movie but there's a few very hard hitting human moments I Saw The TV Glow - already brutal, and then you figure out what it's really saying The Lobster - just bleak man Beautiful Something Left Behind - a documentary about children dealing with grief

The first two lines of the chorus: 'You can never be strong, You can only be free'
Sums up everything great about Robert Pollard's songwriting. Drama, hope and disappointment.

I'm amazed no one else has mentioned the great Townes Van Zandt. This is my favourite of his, a beautiful voice and songwriter gone far too soon.
