Part alt-country.
Part alt-rock.
Maybe a little jam band-y too?
Part electronica (parked in between all the acoustic guitars and weathered-voice growling are samples galore).
Often all on the same song!
This Liverpool group’s 1998 debut “Bring It On” was a home-recorded fusion of blues, Latin ballads and lo-fi electronic sounds, landing Gomez the Mercury Music Prize over better-known acts like the Verve and Massive Attack.
If the Band’s “Music From Big Pink” had been recorded three decades later - what with each group's three distinctive vocalists, sepia-toned outlook and songs for days - it would have sounded like “Tijuana Lady.” 💗
