Those are a few of my personal faves anyways. Honorable mention: Hanna. i believe the Chemical Brothers did the score for that one.

*the substance* because it was the one 2024 film that crawled under my skin and stayed there *aftersun* bc of its quiet yet soul crushing portrayal of familial bonds and mental illness, all through the lens of a coming of age story *jackie brown* bc of the soundtrack and pam grier (duh!) *black swan* bc a cunty schizophrenic ballerina changed the course my life in a cinema when i was 18

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. (this has been my favorite movie since I first watched it at 14 and I really doubt it will ever change. I just popped in the dvd to watch the director/writer commentary and other special features yesterday.) Zola. (I’ve seen Janicza Bravo do Q&As about Zola live twice which is probably two more times that the average person.) Springbreakers. Fallen Angels. Ingrid Goes West. The Royal Tenenbaums. 68 Kill. Poor Things. (I did not see enough movies last year, but I saw this one which is great because it was made for me specifically) Are you sensing a theme in these films….

not listed in an official ranking bc that is like choosing a favorite child 1. Stuck in Love (melancholy and has an absolutely stacked cast) 2. The Royal Tenenbaums (actually same note as above lol and no one is cooler than Margot Tenenbaum) 3. The Bling Ring (soundtrack is insane and I love movies about rich kids getting into trouble) 4. The Women (I LOVE this movie and find it so comforting) 5. Jennifer’s Body (this movie covers camp, horror and teenage angst in the most amazing way and has the best soundtrack ever)

I did this recently on a date with someone who I met irl who asked me out. I generally don’t wear a ton of makeup anyways, and once I start up in a relationship with someone they’ll see me far more frequently without makeup than with makeup on. While I’m a firm believer that makeup drastically improves my appearance and that I’m pretty average/plain looking without it, I figure it’s a more honest depiction of my physical being to go without it. It’s a real challenge for me to go on dates without wearing any and it’s been an interesting experiment in letting go of my negative self-image. Note: I don’t want this to be interpreted as anti-makeup propaganda. Make no mistake, i love a beat face and i love the art of applying makeup!! im just sometimes too lazy to bother, even for a date.
