Last year I got back into reading for fun again and I started with Carrie and then the next five books I read were all Stephen King and I think the stories and just the like easy writing and good characters make them the perfect books to start getting back into reading with
Anyone you pick would be good but even though it may seem a little daunting just cause it is really such a big book, 11/22/63 would maybe be a good start because it is so fun and there are so many great characters but it’s also sad and beautiful, I think I got through it in like 3 weeks because you’ll really want to just get back to it and sit and read another 100 pages whenever possible
There’s also a very good mini series adaptation of it which Ive found also motivates me to pick up a book even when I would rather go on my phone or something because it feels like you’re working towards something

Listened to ā€œ11/22/63ā€ as an audiobook at the end of the year and couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend!

Start small. I got back into reading this year by reading a lot of novellas and short story collections. No more than 200 pages long. It really felt like I was having to rewire my brain because I’d been out of practice with reading. Find a book that intrigues you (if you want to read graphic novels read graphic novels! you’ll get to your friend’s recs in time) and carry it with you everywhere you go. Then (and I know this sounds ridiculous) you just have to actively choose to read the book. I have to be like ā€œok we’re putting the phone away now and we are going to read 10 pagesā€ sometimes I read more and sometimes I hit my quota and ditch the book for the day. I made a goodreads and you can set a reading goal challenge (which I’m now behind on) and that’s kinda fun.

Try reading essay collections or autofiction. It feels more similar to something you’d read online. Also don’t just look up ā€œbest booksā€ and stick yourself with something challenging right off the bat. Read something exciting and fun: Steven King, Ira Levin, basically the types of books that get turned into movies.

i usually find myself in reading ruts when i’m taking classes and being assigned books or when i’m trying to keep up with new releases and the ā€œsmartā€ books that are usually dense and long. i can usually get myself out of this rut by picking out a book that looks fun to me, like a book set on a beach or something I loved in middle school. I’m reading From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler right now and it’s just FUN!!! I also am very much not someone who feels like they have to finish a book. Life is too short. I think that helps!

Peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, etc.
It’s mind blowing that something so nice can be naturally occurring
Just beautiful fruits (look at these plums) and just so delicious even when they’re not technically in season
I could (and do) eat five peaches a day
Also peach cobbler! Haven’t heard of it but need to try plum cobbler I feel like that’d be crazy

😃
I got a humidifier at target cause it’s getting dry and that’s something I would typically overlook but for some reason I remembered the spongebob humidifier my parents used to always put in my room and I thought about how many things just for like comfort or health that I stopped doing that were just like everyday things my parents did when I was a kid

for the most part every movie I see, book I read, meal I eat, album I listen to, place I travel to is the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced
(Maybe it just means I’m easy to please but I don’t mind because it leads to many enjoyable experiences!)
