a book called Lovebug by Daisy Lafarge. Razor-sharp writing where she explores metaphors of love against microbiology, mysticism, and psychoanalysis. The whole thing feels really warm but also thought provoking. Like dolly alderton for existential ppl

I listened to this one. The actual genius that Catherine Lacey is. This was the second novel of hers that I‘ve read, the first being Pew. Both books make me think a ton about how I perceive myself, but Biography of X in particular makes me want to explode or something idk. Self mythology. Theme of the year. Who am I? idk. The end.

A Good Happy Girl was hot in the anxiously avoidant sort of way, where Helen wants to be a third, but she also just craves the stability of an established partnership. She's coping with her recently incarcerated parents' addiction, elder abuse, and neglect. So all she wants is to be told how she's such a good girl. Spicy and morally ambiguous, this debut was a treat of a power-dynamic-lesbians relationship novel. Release date: April 2, 2024 Thanks to catapult for the free copy :)
