david sylvain and his band ‘japan’ are a major influence on me. japan is v avant slice of new wave glam and then in his solo work, he slows creates these new age / pre-shoegaze slow motion grooves. he’s v bowie-esque but also his own thing. and worked with other epic artists like holger czukay (can), robert fripp (king crimson) - i don’t think he or his japan bandmates get talked about enough
