Back in middle school, I participated in two charity bake sales, making the most ticket sales at the carnival. I made unconventional stuff that people loved. The next day in class, everyone applauded (also because our teacher asked them to :p). But that’s one of my most cherished memories I like to remember when I’m feeling low.

i teach high school math so my highlights and bright spots are a bit different than say, an elementary art teacher, but the kids really are so funny and i love watching the growth that happens throughout the course of a high schooler’s career. not just academically but personally. so much of high school isn’t just about What you want to be but Who you want to be and i love getting to be a part of that.
anyway here is a drawing a student of mine left on his test today that made me giggle—i adore these kids and they really do make the long hard frustrating days worthwhile 🫶🏻🫶🏻

In 5th grade i forgot to tell my Mom we were having a Halloween prty and parade thing at school and made her pick me up a costume last minute. She bought me this big orange felt pumpkin costume lol. It was so corny and not cool. I don’t think it was even a jack o’ lantern. All my friends had these really cool elaborate masks like one from the Goosebumps show and i had to walk around as a lil pumpkin. It was really embarrassing. Anyways i think about it a lot.
Anyways, my fav was prob when i dressed as a robot with this cool custom outfit i helped make out of cardboard boxes when i was like 7.

as a kid i really liked putting on shows
usually singing and dance
but it was all very organized
like i had a pamphlet i would write that would have the name of the song, who was performing, what time the "show" started and when it would end
its really funny looking back on it
cause its one of the things i really enjoy doing now
having structure and directing things

I don’t realise how crowded it can get in my mind sometimes. I like to set up an exotic spa-like environment in my room - candles, lights and all. Lie down, gently feel all of my body - starting from my forehead all the way down to my toes. All in silence, I’ve found this to be a deeper meditation - to realise the full extent of your physical being. This is all you! Everything you’ve done in life has brought you here. It helps me empty my head, and make me more purposeful in everything I do
