At the Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania (which is the best museum hands down anyway) there's an ongoing piece called "4pm" where composer Dean Stevenson works until 4pm everyday composing a new song. No matter what, a string quartet comes in at 4pm to play what he's made that day. His journal on the work is wild. Best current artist descent into madness.

yum yum yummy. Whether or not the show is good or not, the lighting never disappoints. I can see the most bland, boring, i-movie, stock music esque performances, and still be enchanted by the magic that is lighting engineers at the Sydney Opera House. On that note - with all respect to Max Richter and his career, his music was simply accompanying the thoughts of the crowd, and the silent conversations being had in one’s head about how they could later brag to their co-workers about how much they enjoy classical music. I am astounded by his success, and am glad he found an audience for his endless arpeggios, 4 chords and ambient piano, but if i had added a trap beat, it would have ended up on a “10 hour study lofi beats” playlist 5 years ago.

Their music exemplifies how the avant-garde need not be aloofly off-putting (though I like plenty of that ilk as well) but can be playful, inviting, dare I say whimsical (since whimsy appears to be a main preoccupation of the PI community)
See also: "Dishwasher" by Amy Denio for another example of this
Avant-garde but blissful is what I often aim for when composing pieces myself

A god-damn majestic oasis. It’s a privately owned public park with a 25 foot waterfall. Go get a bagel or three (not a bagel sandwich, that’s a whole other post) from Ess-a-bagel and chomp on ‘em in the cool shade while you watch people bliss out staring at the waterfall.

Are you sick? No you're not. Not if you take whatever magical mystery powder that makes up Lemsip. I don't know why it works, or why you can't buy it anywhere that isn't a commonwealth country, but I hoard it like there's no tomorrow. Fill my suitcases with it. Amazing. (You genuinely forget you're sick until it wears off a few hours later, so use it strategically.) (Only Lemsip Max holds this power).

Whoa. My love for this Kentucky country metal melodrama performer has recently transformed from ironic to unconditional. There’s a song about capital punishment called “Kentucky Fried” but for seasonal vibes, listen to “silent lullaby” (but why does she look like a long-ass Parmigianino baby?)
