we're all going to die one day. better to die with used notebooks than empty ones. they don't need to look pretty. as long as you're writing, you're doing something right.

once i got over my fear of not having anything "important" or "smart" to write or my pages not looking aesthetically pleasing enough, i realized how refreshing and therapeutic it is to put my thoughts on paper—regardless of how much value i'll find in them in the future

the crucial thing here is it has to be a really pleasant little notebook. you have to enjoy the experience of scribbling in it. i have three for different idea styles and they each provide a writing situation i get actively excited to experience. like ooh i hope i get to use my dream journal this morning… ooh hope i have a cool idea about art on the bus… etc etc

a lost art. when i was i school this was the only way i could retain anything. even when i write personal essays and stuff now, i feel like i understand the subject matter better when i take time to hand write key points and notes. also i just love the chicness of a notebook and pen.

i don't know if this is already common practice but i think it's worth talking about. adding a birthday to a contact is quick and easy, and doing so automatically makes birthdays appear in your apple calendar, if the birthday calendar is toggled on. it's a super simple way of remembering and letting people know you care about them, no matter how busy life may be.
