the big chop
one of my worse habits is only cutting my hair once per year so i grow it super long then cut it til my chin in the winter … in my mind it’s a minor adjustment but then i see the pile of hair on the ground & my reflection

I had not cut my hair in 4 years *at all*, and then very quickly went from midbac (where it was to start), to shoulder length, to chin length, to a buzzcut. I had had it growing for several months, and then flashed into a buzz recently (As seen in my pfp). There was so much hair in the sink from not even a year of growing! it was an oddly meditative thing. People were so shocked to see me with a buzz at first, but I’ve found it always liberating. People were glad about my big chop but never my buzzing. I find it odd!

i think it’s good to practice at least yearly. it’s humbling and after the panic and maybe tears you’ll realize it really doesn’t matter and maybe it’ll come out cool if you stick with it

Cutting my own hair
I don't trust anyone to cut my hair. I've had too many freaky haircut experiences, so I've taken matters into my own hands. And then if I mess up I'm the only one to blame. I usually end up cutting my hair after a breakup or when I'm bored. I almost always hate it at first, but that's part of the journey. I've been cutting my hair shorter and shorter recently. Bobs are in baby!!
