Pure vanilla is just one of the all time best flavors and scents. I always want to be smelling vanilla but I’ve never wanted to smell like vanilla. I protested against layering with this scent for a long time because it’s polarizing and some might say basic. Plus I really don’t want people to internalize the fact that I chose to smell like a cupcake, but whatever, I like the smell of vanilla and at some point I have to do at least one thing in my pathetic little life for me.

* Coty Dark Vanilla—so simple but so good. The heady floral and musky notes keep it from being a cheap saccharine desserty gourmand vanilla it’s just really sexy and mature. It’s discontinued so it’s pretty pricy at about $50 for a 1.7 oz bottle considering that you used to be able to buy it at the drugstore for like 20 bucks
* Fracas by Robert Piguet—classic fragrance for divas only, like Madonna, Courtney Love, and Marlene Dietrich. I still have the same bottle I got in high school after buying a perfume book and painstakingly researching to decide what I really wanted in my perfect perfume and saving money and birthday money for a whole school year. I wear it on happy days I want to remember forever so the association I have with it of pure joy becomes stronger every time. It smells like carefree summer to me!
* I actually love tuberose so much that I’ve been using Alba Botanica’s tuberose body wash it’s soooo good
* I’ve also recently been wearing the bottle of Juicy Couture my grandmother gave me forever ago when she was still alive which was her signature scent simply because it had a schnauzer on the bottle—her favorite dog. It’s also extremely tuberose heavy and that may be why I fell in love with it in the first place. It’s grown on me i weirdly like it a lot
* I wear kuumba made amber and sandalwood perfume oil as a daily scent which matches my sandalwood sandal deodorant (rec coming about this soon…) for a nice crunchy hippie vibe

Lovely warm vanilla and musk, but not *only* vanilla and musk so I don’t feel like a walking can of vanilla frosting, I feel like a *lady*
I like her second/newer perfume, too, but it’s much spicier and slightly overpowering for me personally

Some people think they are vermin but I think they’re perfect. My backyard has basically become a deer sanctuary and I should be paid by the government, not that the government has any stake in deer population upkeep. Sometimes I get nothing done because I spend the entire day watching deer eat all my plants.
I've been trying to gain their affection. My whole algorithm is now those videos of people who end up saving a deer and then the next day the deer shows up at their door and loves them forever. I obviously don’t want something bad to happen to a deer that would then force me to save them, but if it did end up happening, that'd be cool. Until then, I’ve realized, as I have in my romantic life, that the only way to attract another being is to sit very still and not make any sudden movements.

My new thing when I’m suffering at the hands of my own mind is saying “help” out loud without any context and when there is nothing anyone can actually do to help me. I say it multiple times a day and in front of anyone who happens to be around me.

These are my boys. For a good time read ‘The Trouble With Being Born’ by Cioran and anything related to Schopenhauer. I really enjoy the brief moment where they make me feel like an optimist. Warning: do not read while pregnant. If you don’t want to read, which I understand, then I guess I’m just recommending pessimism in general?
