hate to be this bitch but this is a learning opportunity! the government does have a stake in keeping the deer population at certain levels. most deer in cities are only one species. and they often *thrive* so hard near humans that their levels can get out of control and impact other deer species that don't thrive in urban areas. so the other deer suffer from the levels being imbalanced. fish & wildlife (or your states equivalent) will do population studies funded by tags or permits that hunters buy for each season (hunting is conservation whaaa?) which then determines how many tags they can sell to hunters the next season. the whole point is to maintain a balance, so that all the deer species can thrive. I live in montana and a lot of my friends go hunting and hearing them talk about their reasons for doing so has really opened my eyes and made me sooooo pro- (ethical) hunting.
That saaaaid, I fuck with city deer. theyre so fucking cute. and I think its awesome youre giving them this little santuary. just had to spread my pro-hunting/conservation propaganda bc this was something I did not understand for too long.
