This is my favorite movie. Maybe you know it as "that quirky Dylan biopic with Cate Blanchett". It's a true comfort watch that still gets me in the guts & it has some things to say about growing as a person & an artist.

todd haynes is incredibly underrated! he has such a beautiful way of showing the richness of someone's inner world. carol and velvet goldmine also have that same mix of being painful yet freeing

sailor Oh yeah, thanks, I love Carol too, but have yet to check out Velvet Goldmine! Carol’s low-key an obligatory “Gay Yearning during the Holidays rewatch”, heh.

I watched this for an indie cinema class at home, because i didn’t feel too great, which was very ironic. To be real tho, I kind of wanted a little more to happen within the film but I understand why it didn’t.

This may genuinely be THE best film ever. I'm not joking when I say I've made every person in my life watch it and they all loved it. WARNING: you will cry however the About Time philosophy of living your life will change you.

This was perfect on all levels, dialogues and especially the monologues I can't even begin to describe how emotionally invested I was while watching, cried 5 times. I haven't seen Nocturnal Animals but I have to watch it next to see this kind of cinematography from Tom Ford again. The changes in saturation were timed in such a way that you just felt the scenes. Sad gays, the best genre of people ngl.

The film has so many moments of the most haunting and affecting imagery I’ve ever seen, and beyond that is staying with me in some kind of a sea-change way, which I don’t fully grasp.
It’s freely available on YouTube (linked here). Kanopy, too. Go see it.

David Berman was incredible with words. A new rainy day track on loop, for me.

It feels frozen, or far away, somehow. Like it’s floating in a pane of fog. Or under ice.
