Rec'd on 🐍 Should i still learn python?

I liked learning how to program because it felt like I made the world stop spinning in a very fast pace. It felt kind of like putting my claws into the rotating orb and making it move slower.
My friend and I were discussing the loss of knowledge when we no longer reinvent the wheel; the vastness of human knowledge and industrial science is so complex now that most people dont know how to reinvent most things. I have no idea how to write binary code and speak to the machines if all compilers stop working. But I know how to write code that the compilers compile. So that is nice

I agree, I taught myself Basic and Turbo Pascal when I was younger and I understand most web languages. I wanted to learn Python a couple of years ago, but never really did. Now I see myself using ChatGPT to quickly write simple code in Python etc. and it really makes it difficult to do the work myself 🫣

Learning how to code

Dudes in tech don’t want you to know that learning how to code can actually be super easy and fun. It opens up a whole new world of creative projects!
It’s honestly wild how we’ve made STEM subjects feel like they’re way harder to master than others, or that they’re all just about cold logic while creative stuff is for “artsy” types. Learning to code reminded me so much of learning to play an instrument — if you just put in like 10 minutes a day, you’ll see progress fast. Plus, once you get the hang of the technical rules, there’s so much room for creativity.

Learning is fun

python and coding in general can be frustrating and time consuming but imo, it is so much more fulfilling and worthwhile to put in the work and do something yourself so that you can understand how it works and eventually learn to go even further with the ideas you have! developing the skills to do what you want and more is an invaluable tool that you should never let AI take from you. sure it may give you an output close enough to what you want, but knowing how to code could help you improve it at the very least. not to mention credibility issues with AI
