Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans is a crazy movie. It takes noir and turns everything up to 11, to the point of satirizing the genre. Nic Cage gives an unreal performance that reminds me of Wild at Heart—the same over-the-top intensity that could have been awful if handled by someone less skilled then Werner Herzog. Instead, it’s mesmerizing.

nothing can prepare you for how absolutely bonkers this performance is. A movie named after another movie with absolutely no relationship to the original (just the name and the character.) Nic Cage is fully off the reservation in this one, and that says alot.

Nic cage acting like a broken John travolta. John travolta pretending to be Nic cage at his most batshit. A huge budget for John Woo to blow up all kinds of shit, pre-cgi. A script that defies logic. A sci-fi prison called Erewhon with mag boots. 1997 was a good year for movies.

Its a web app that people submit 1 song per week and then everyone gets to vote on the all the different songs but their own. After all the rounds have been completed, the person with the most votes wins! Its a fun way to share music with people and get competitive. Been using this app with other online communities and friends for a few months and have really been enjoying it.
NOTE: I created a PI.FYI League where the first submission is this friday. I limited it to 25 people for now not sure if I should open that up to more but it would be pretty overwhelming to have more than 25 songs to listen and vote on. The join link is attached to this rec!
