“home” is annoyingly complicated for me bc i lived so many places however nj is usually first to come to mind. reminds me of being in the car on long and short trips, cuz we lived by a loooot of farms there is a lingering worm in my brain where basically every time i see farmland (unless it’s a tropical climate) i think wow… just like new jersey pictured is somewhere in the north of france i saw in a eurostar where i had the exact same thought. truly there are new jerseys everywhere for those with the eyes to see…

i moved from philly to jersey recently (which doesn‘t sound big because they’re close (but trust me)) and i‘m in a really weird maybe very melodramatic state of mourn. i love where i’m from and who it’s made me and the GIFT of perspective i’ve received from growing there

people will hate me for this but as a new yorker i love going to jersey. it’s always a fun little adventure and nj transit tickets aren’t that expensive. there’s a bunch of good ethnic food that doesn’t cost $15 for an appetizer + people respect you more cause you’re from new york. but you can’t just go to the new york parts of jersey like hoboken, i’m talking new brunswick/metropark/edison CENTRAL JERSEY, that’s where the real shit is

I’ve been here for so long the longest I’ve ever lived anywhere and occasionally i feel like maybe it’s time to move on and then I go literally anywhere else in the country and I’m so relieved to be back home!!!

being traditionally cool is really quite boring and iterative, and it’s actually very cool and sexy to geek out about something you like or share bits of knowledge on a topic you’re passionate about

i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining people’s attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends - fake words that people now use IRL (“unalive”), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, “alpha male” podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche things… the list goes on
