people should always know if you think that their hair looks good today, that they had a really good idea in the meeting, that their shoes are cool, that they are a good friend, that you love them etc.
the way the light settles on their eyelashes, their outfit, a wonderful performance, a subtle acknowledgement: trading complements as you pass each other in the bathroom.
sharing the joy others bring to your life is so powerful.
Recently my favorite compliments to give have been to describe someone by saying “to know them is to love them” or, after hanging out with a friend, i like telling them that it was the highlight of my day/week/month. of course I only say these things when I mean it. What are some of your current favorite compliments to give?
This is a type of walk I do almost every day. Walk in one direction until you hit a stoplight. Then immediately turn and walk in the new direction until you hit a stoplight and repeat until you get back home.
