Not to add fuel to anyoneโs avoidant attachment, cuz human connection can be the most rewarding experience and I have some incredible people in my life, but being in any kind of unhealthy/mismatched relationship is the most exhausting experience. It takes up far more of your mental energy than you even realize, especially if youโre someone who can lean anxiously attached and tries to โrepairโ these relationships โ like me.
Sometimes you can work out differences with some honest communication, but sometimes it is far better to de-escalate or end things, recognizing that some people have different values or are in such a different place where a long-term connection just isnโt possible โ or at least possible, right now.
Be honest with yourself and each other when a relationship feels exhausting โ romantic or platonic โ and if youโre not certain what you need, take some space to clear your head and find your own inner voice again. It might be trying to tell you something if you take the time to listen.

I do not have to throw myself full force into a friendship
I do not have to give 100%
I can be just acquaintances if I want to
I can deny things I don't like doing
I can set boundaries without feeling bad
I can create relationships I actually enjoy
I can leave behind people who don't respect me
I can meet people halfway and not be expected more than that
I can be free to be tired, busy, needing alone time
I can respond later
I can be allowed to have friends without being a 24/7 hotline
but I'm also allowed to say hi at weird times of the day
I can do anything that works for both of us
I can have a relationship I feel real in without it consuming me
and you can too!!!!!

lol jk - I did laugh a lot during that movie though. off the top of my head I think Anora is my fav movie of 2024 not cause itโs fresh in my mind but damn that ending wrecked me, it stayed with me. Anora was everything to me - full of depth, humor, style (the best execution of hair tinsel I ever did see), palpable sense of place, poignant & a great soundtrack. Iโve loved Mikey Madison since Better Things on FX so its amazing seeing her get her flowers
