Hear me out. Recently I went down the rabbit hole that is 70s softcore porno musicals and listen, I'm obsessed. Cinderella from 1977 is one of my favorites cause there is so much to unpack. One, it's a musical, and who doesn't love a campy musical? Two, the evil step-sister's makeup is insane, like I'm talking 70s drag levels of makeup. Three, Cinderella has a "snapping pussy", now I'm not fully sure what that means but I know she's good at fucking from the sound of it. Also, the stereotypical sassy black gay guy makes an appearance as the fairy godmother (Sorry Billy Porter). Like is the film SEVERALLY dated? yes. But is it a good time if? Yes. I suggest you play a drinking game where every time a random sexual encounter happens you take a shot. (also sorry dick lovers, no dick is visible in this film)

Where have I been?! This is the BEST movie I’ve seen in a long time. The tone is so nuanced, and the careful choices, excellent writing and great performances make this feel like a movie that could have been made yesterday. Sadly, the story feels too relevant today (the world slips into chaos and the internet’s our cabaret!).

The songs, the dream ballet, Cyd Charisse's green dress, Donald O'Connor's performance of Make 'Em Laugh, Gene Kelly doing one of the most iconic scenes in cinematic history with a fever, Debbie Reynolds emerging out of a big cake, this film has it all.
IMDb has a lot of fascinating facts about this film and it sounded like a terrible project to work on but wow what a film

oh my god. I went into this thinking yeah yeah fun pretty technicolour Powell & Pressburger postwar ballet film. and it is all of those things. but it is also PERFECT. dramatic and beautiful with queer and feminist overtones/undertones that are so exciting to identify in a 75 year old film and a plot that speaks to anyone caught between art and the conventions of love!! And it has a 17 minute hyperreal ballet sequence through the psyche! genuinely want to scream about it to everyone i’ve ever met

I always have loved clothes and fashion. I have so much on my clothing rack right now that it's falling over so I feel I can't keep buying more (even though I will). But for now, I still want to take photos of my friends and myself in very cute outfits so we always go to those very cute curated thrift stores with displays and gorgeous room designs and get an outfit together and take photos, and were don't end up spending a cent. So you should do it, it's fun.
