Do I understand what is happening in this book? Absolutely not! But I will not be cowed by a mere 900 pages! I am chasing the thrill of conquest! When I am done I am allowed to read a little Terry Pratchett as a treat!

Determination

I am going to finish this book. Page by page, sentence by sentence, punctuation by punctuation, even if it takes me until summer. "But that's months from now!" Guess what? That time will pass regardless. So I might as well make my brain better and stronger and more culturally literate. What else am I going to do, look on my phone? I do that every day!

not finishing a book

...and making peace with that. Been in the biggest reading slump because I wasn't vibing with The Idiot by Elif Batuman but desperately wanted to push through bc it got shortlisted for Pulitzer. 65% in, I just had to admit it wasn't for me and abandon it. Flying through books I've been wanting to read now and feeling so much better about myself :)
