Brain Damage is a horror comedy heavy handed on campy schlock, gorey practical effects, stop motion and slime.
Brian, a young man suffering from
strange hallucinations realizes he has become the host of a parasite called “Aylmer” who repeatedly injects him with a psychoactive fluid that turns him into a incoherent, zombified vessel compelled to bring the parasite to new victims with tasty brains to feast upon.
As much as it is what you’d expect of such a film it surprisingly has some level of darker complexity I wasn’t expecting and it touches on themes of drug addiction and sexuality throughout.
In my opinion as an enjoyer of low budget films with bad taste, it is one of Henenlotter’s best and brightest.
