just went to a Buddhist retreat in the countryside. have been back online for 12 hours now. music sounds better food tastes better the world is brighter senses are heightened yes mediating for several hours a day for sure helped, but i suspect simply not doom scrolling for hours on end has done wonders turn off your devices!

i was on holiday and barely checked my phone for three weeks. highly recommend. good for the soul. a reminder that social media is not real life and 90% of it is marketing anyway. your friends will be fine if you don’t watch their stories every single day. go outside. touch grass. smell the flowers. go for a swim.

Even if you’re just doing the dishes or reading or whatever… my heart and brain feel so much more comfortable and alive when they really /can’t/ get dopamine from the stimulation box

too many people, under the guise of ‘self care’ and wellness don’t go out anymore. on the surface I support this as prioritising mental health etc is obvi not bad thing. I just wonder if we’re as a culture inadvertently becoming to risk adverse/ kinda lame? like we’re young, i don’t want to hear about the netflix show youre watching… i don’t want to hear about your knitted scarf… can we all just grab a pint and do some ket in the toilet?
