Mr. Kirk has mad so much music my brain can’t even begin to fathom it. Starting to gain prominence with his group Cabaret Voltaire, he didn’t stop taking an eclectic approach to music production. This album, however, is his stand out work. The apex of everything that makes his music work so well. Tape loops, drum machines, african percussion, and a spicing of dark wave dancability. A singular musician and a singular album. Hugely influential for the music I make too (as will be the case for many, many of my other posts).

electroacoustic artist with serious avant-garde cred making some of the most batshit glitch pop/plunderphonic dance(?) electro-skronk magic in his 70s. Samples include "One Last Time" by Ariana Grande, "Strawberry Blonde" by Mitski and a whole bunch of others that i'm sure a more ear-savvy user could come up with. FFO: A.G. Cook DJ Mixes, Arca Side-Projects (WENCH!!), Fucking Around In Audacity, Sampledelia, Old Men?

David Lynch understands the blend of a country twang with EDM distortions and sounds. As emblematic on his eclectic and masterful track “Strange and Unproductive Thinking,” he has a lot to say, much of it incoherent, in ways relatable and all the more interesting with a crunchy and dance-able beat. I want to hear that at a party, as it best encapsulates the true essence of a party- communal existentialism. #davidlynch

Difficult though it may be for the old vanguard to accept, I believe most if not all vital innovation in the jam band format is coming from the industrial electronic musical sector. Autechre are a great example of one such band who - late in their careers - have released dozens of hours of improvisatory and fresh takes on old material performed live and categorized by the year and city in which the performances took place. These recordings are then - of course - fawned over and endlessly analyzed by obsessive devotees and electro-hippie freaks who collect, distribute, and bootleg them along with whatever other unreleased or previously unknown material they can independently gather. It is, as ever, a brave new world, and change is confusing, but if you listen with an open mind you’ll surely find yourself entranced by Autechre’s Psycho-Electronic Experimentations …. Peace and Love✌️

This is my first post, so i’m gonna keep it short and sweet: Distinct, electronic music is my jam rn. And mr. stone has my calling card. Slowed, warped samples covered in sheets of effects and synths rising and fallin…. One track even sound like a Philip Glass+Kraftwerk combo. The album touches on such a specific nostalgia, or longing feeling. It’s hard to describe. The title “Mom” fits perfect for the feeling… Childlike, yet forlorn. Lovely from beginning to end. (His newer album Stolen Car is also a fun listen if you enjoy this.)
