I always learn so much from playing Yoko Taro's games but this one hit like nothing I’ve experienced before. It actually pushed me to finish my album. It’s such a beautifully confusing story. A tale of androids and machines questioning if they are actually alive or not. With this you have to beat it multiple times to experience the entire thing. (Endings A-E) One alternate ending can be found within minutes of starting the game. The credits even roll but at triple speed. The hardest one to get ā€œEnding Eā€ took me about 40 hours over the course of a few months and It’s one of the greatest endings in any type of media period in my opinion. I won’t dare spoil it. If you like weird games and if you like beautiful strange stories about existentialism please play this

Both Automata and Replicant. Typical good vs. evil Japanese action/adventure on the surface, but slowly reveals in-depth questioning of morality by re-evaluating core game mechanics.

I know a 6 hour long youtube video about a PS1 game you’ve never played is a hard sell, but I swear you’ll love it. Going into something blind and leaving with an extensive knowledge of the subject and the author’s relationship with it is stupidly rewarding. Believe it or not you will be moved by this untranslated 24 year old video game! I watch this like twice a year lol, if you only watch one Action Button review make sure it’s this one

Iā€˜d let a letsplay of the game run in the background throughout my day and I’ve already gone through 3 of them. The concept is an awkward person’s dream: being able to rewind on a conversation until you say the right thing. But what makes me linger on it for 3 letsplays and counting is the atmosphere. I love being in the shoes of a quiet creative type like Max in an idyllic campus on the cusp of realising her artistic dreams and being able to feel again, wonder for the world and aspiration for the future suspended in time. The pause menu music alone is delicate and introspective. I also think this may be the only game where replaying it over doesn’t kill it because it’s all about going back (in time) and reconsidering the possibilities, like it would make sense to the story. Moments in the game will happen, (are) happening, (and) happened šŸŽ¶

I am an Apple fritter guy through and through. Microwave for 30 seconds if you can. On tour if we walk into a gas station it’s hard to exit the place without one.

I love this movie so much. Satoshi Kon was a real genius. A great movie about chosen family and resilience. My wife and I watch it once a year around the holidays. I cry every time.

Truly try to make time for this. It’s simple. No matter what happened that day the walk is always nice. And if you do it with someone you love it feels even better.
