saw Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson there last night, one of the best venues I’ve been to, plus they let you bring food in (we brought bánh mì and wine
I couldn’t have dreamed of a better night)

nick3 we def could have used a couple more bottles too lol, but we ubered there, which after seeing the chaos that was their parking didn’t seem like such a bad call, I’ll take note of parking at the zoo though, I didn’t even know that was an option, very smart

gabbylinder Yeah I think it was like $7/person for the shuttle? the one possible downside is they don’t start leaving until after the show and I’m guessing each bus doesn’t leave until its mostly filled up. We ended up ubering back to the zoo parking lot since we left early to try and beat the crowd. ubering might be the way to go but zoo isn’t bad either ig it just depends on the vibe that day

I was visiting my friend who lives in San Jose a couple years ago and a couple weeks before we left, my friend was like "Should we check out a show while we are out there? Kurt Vile is playing in SF that week." I was like that sounds cool but upon looking further at it, I noticed that they were playing at a winery in Sonoma the next day. We decided to do a one night overnight in wine country and check out the show. The venue was beautiful, a hill facing the stage with a view of the vineyards in the background. Since it was a winery, they sold bottles of wine at the show for $30 a pop so we had a couple of those. The show was amazing. I had seen Kurt Vile but I find his live to show to be entrancing like his music with a little bit of the rawness of a Neil Young Crazy Horse record. After the show, the lyft that we thought to order before the show so we could drink never came and we were lucky to get another uber to pick us up in the middle of the night from the middle of nowhere and bring us back to our hotel in Napa.

fairly small venue but i just went for my first time last night and it was fantastic. very kind staff. really cute atmosphere. sounds like it doubles as a restaurant/bar during the day but i've never been... very tempted

this summer, we’re starting yoga, we’re learning a new language (being bilingual is now the standard, you need to know at least three to be truly chic), we’re going to concerts just because the tickets were cheap, we’re going to museums (especially the weird ones), hitting up the local library to ask for new recommendations, whether it’s a surprise or based on past tastes, we’re painting, collecting and collaging, sewing and embroidering our clothes, re-learning the harmonica, playing chess with strangers online and at the cafĂ©, we’re taking up tennis and pretending it’s not just because of challengers. the only way to find what brings you joy is to try.

I had to go to Greenwood Cemetery for a class last semester, and many famous people like Leonard Bernstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat are buried there, but I stumbled upon this woman’s grave that read “FORTUNATE DESPERATE TRUSTFUL” and I was so upset by the idea of someone putting desperate on my grave that I had to look her up. her name was Eleonora Duse, apparently she was often known as just Duse (so chic), she was an amazing Italian actress, muse, and, importantly, was involved in numerous lesbian love affairs. I think it’s in many ways much more respectful to learn about the people you pass by, rather than just letting them go on unacknowledged and unknown.
