Way back on this day in 1977, a new CBGB-created template for guitar heroism was born. Think you 🙏🏻 to the late Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd for showing us that not all guitar gods wear capes or “I’m working hard over here” faces. Cool art is possible without bullshit macho posturing. This song and album is ground zero for me. Six-string midnight mass. 🕯️ “I remember how the darkness doubled.” About as New York City an album as I can conjure.

The Stones go psychadelic, had never really explored this one before recently. They didn’t really explore this stuff further after this album and the album was the panned as a rip off of those trends of the time and the what the Beatles had done, but still give this a listen, cool stuff. This is what digging into discographies and less popular stuff is all about, finding these fun one offs.

Even if you end up having to go somewhere else, there still will be culture to get involved in, people to meet, things to learn, realizations to be made. All of that is still right there for you and it will be open in a way you won't even realize until you've done like a year or two. So it's truly still exciting times. As long as you feel generally good about the place you ultimately choose, your time is coming.
