With maturity and wisdom comes the ability to enjoy bird watching. Prior to now I misunderstood the activity completely, and in a lot of ways I still have a lot to learn. I don’t pencil bird watching into my schedule, I don’t have bird species memorized, I don’t have a pair of binoculars in my bag, but I find myself watching birds occasionally, and I really enjoy it. For example, on my birthday this year, I decided to spend the day alone (I get emo on my birthday), and I took myself to the beach. I walked for a while before deciding to sit and watch birds. I watched birds for almost an hour and I had a beautifully relaxing time. They really don’t do anything miraculous, but there is something meditative about watching them eat soggy crumbs off the ground and ruffle their little feathers for reasons unknown. I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up taking it seriously in my older age
 I guess we’ll have to see.

If you’re from brooklyn or new york city or just moved here, i know, this is cliche. But i! Don’t! Care! The truffle popcorn is addicting, even if I'm farting for the rest of the movie, it’s worth it. Plus they have cute little trailers to gab about with your date or friend, but i also go alone because nobody tried to have small talk with you at the movies and you can just disassociate peacefully in blissful high-power air conditioning on a hot nyc summer day. They have guest curators on a monthly basis and do fun screenings of old flicks. Highly recommend it. Nitehawk > Alamo.

😃
let me break it down
 Anthology 10 dollars a lot of lesser known avant garde films mixed in with art/foreign films. most things are also projected on film. really good place if your looking for something different. Moma is like 10 dollars too but if you’re a student you can get a free entry ticket which allows for a free movie ticket you just have to ask the desk. Moma has alot of stuff on film also and is always putting up classics And retrospectives on filmmakers Momi is also 10 and has a ton of cool 35mm more mainstream films always playing such as kubrick or Micheal mann.museum’s section is also cute especially if you like the muppets. Lincon center is a good place to go see indies/foreign movies that have come out recently also around 10 dollars also do some retrospectives remasters and 35mm screenings Spectacle is a community run Brooklyn theater that is one room and plays obscure cinema very fun place to go out to with friends and see something different. Roxy has some good 35mm screenings good date place to take someone.very comfy inside this fancy hotel downside is little more expensive but overall one of the better theater experiences in New York. Warning hipster central however 😭

Going to the movies rocks. this was honestly such a hard question. This isn’t exactly the ~best~ movie but it is a great movie to see in a theater From like 19-20 going to the Landmark in Westwood to see the Room with my friends rocked. The Room is such a funny bad movie and it’s even better at this theater because of all the canned responses the audience has to the shit happening on screen. its similar to how campy people get with Rocky Horror Picture Show. People throw plastic spoons and loudly jeer at the movie. occasionally Tommy Wiseau and maybe Greg Sestero will show up and you can take a pic. Highly recommend pregaming and then going with your friends at least once sometimes a specific audience for it will suck but overall it was always pretty fun.

I have two (minor) issues in my life that have both been solved by a single action. The issues are, 1) I eat too fast and it causes me a number of horrific digestional issues and 2) I don’t read as much as I would like to. The solution is, reading while I eat. I discovered this by accident. I go through disciplinary phases where I force myself not to consume any form of internet content. During one of these phases, I found myself bored while eating my lunch alone and I decided to entertain myself with a book. Little did I know how delightful this would truly be. The physical requirements of reading a book forced me to slow down my eating, I think I added 20 minutes to my eating process by simply adding a book to the equation. Now, my stomach hurts less and I’m reading more books. Hurray!

This is the best show I have seen in years. It checks every box for me, it’s humorous, it’s investigative, it’s light-hearted, and it’s genius. It has everything needed to be a “comfort show,” and that it is for me. I put this show on anytime I don’t have anything else I want to watch  (which is often because I hate starting new television ventures out of fear of disliking them and being plagued with guilt about not watching enough to fully judge. I will say to myself, “maybe it will get better if I watch for a bit longer?” until I have finished the entire thing and wasted 2-6 hours of my life, etc). John Wilson has created the perfect show.

One thing you must know about me is that I always have my nails done. My legs can be unshaved, hair can look like shit, skin in need of dermatological intervention, but my nails will ALWAYS BE DONE. This is a non-negotiable part of my routine. However, it used to be a stressful bi-weekly appointment due to decision fatigue. Should I get a design on my nails? Should I try a new color? What if hate my choice and I’m stuck with it for weeks? I say “used to be” because after years of trial and error, I have finally figured out my go-to nail color. Listen, It might not seem like a big discovery to you, especially because my go-to color is literally just a deep shade of red (the most obvious color on the planet that everyone has been defaulting to since 1500 BC probably), but to me, this is a sigh of relief. I have had fleeting phases in the past where I thought I had found my color (beige, white, baby pink, the list goes on), but deep red feels like forever. It matches every outfit, I’m satisfied after every manicure, and the anxiety of uncertainty that has plagued nail appointments for years has vanished. I am free.
