it’s not delusional or ego inflating, it’s not creepy or stalkerish, but I’m a good internet sleuth and try to search for the company name + “recruiter” or “talent” and show genuine interest + how I am relevant to them, it’s how I got my last gig

Looking for a job is like a job in itself. There is the looking, there is the applying. there is the cover letter, there is the waiting. Then they make interviews extra-long and worse, in phases/tests - making you jump through hoops. If you see a job posting on linkedin for eg, click on the job poster, and email them directly. I start by saying "I saw an ad but don't fit all the boxes." Send them a quick descriptor and then attach my CV. Some do respond.

I got my job by like idk sending out I think 500+ applications but also in the end I messaged every single person I could think of who might know someone or know someone who knows someone to just even get a tiny toe in the door and I think that helped Like literally I had a friend who I thought knew someone who used to be at x magazine. I texted the friend and asked about it and if it seem d okay I’d ask them to put me in touch or some shit Before that I got my job literally on Craigslist it seemed weird but I was sooooo desperate for a job and it ended up being legit tech job w health benefits and good pay So 🤷‍♀️
