To get me to sit down, write an essay, study, oo it is like pulling teeth. But.. but.. Today I made studying a ritual, I told myself to find the beauty in it, got myself a coffee, and dialed in. And I actually had a good time and enjoyed what I was learning :D What helped most though was the fact my teacher is supa chill and ultimately without this pressure I really did get to learn something I love <3 shoutout Dr. Mendoza

Find something that tickles ur brain and dive in, ideally sitting at a desk and having some kind of place to take notes, write questions you have, and note down resources. I think it can really improve your relationship to yourself to see that ur capable of not just scrolling mindlessly for hours, but for caring deeply about a topic, treating it seriously and with curiosity. Doesn’t need to be an intellectual topic at all! I’ve just started lap swimming so am ‘studying’ freestyle technique, what drills to do, the swimming styles of various Olympians etc

i will die on this hill. most ai sucks, and i cringe whenever i see ai art or an article so obviously written with it. however, as a programmer myself that always loves to learn new things, it has made learning so much easier. i loved school growing up. and i’ve always loved learning in a structured setting and with a clear curriculum. but once i left school, all that structure was gone. i still would learn things on my own, but i would always end up veering off onto something else or just getting discouraged because i would end up focusing on the wrong things. now this may be controversial… i dont use chatgpt much, but when i do i give it a goal, a time frame, and ask it what i need to learn. and then i ask it to split its answer into a weekly plan and boom! i’ve made my own curriculum. guided learning is now so much easier because i know exactly what to read about and research. i’ll sometimes even ask it to give me a “homework assignment” so i can get in some “learning by doing”.

i actually hope in the future to have daughters, so reading this perspective has been a nice insight into how autonomy plays a massive role into their upbringing :)
