I really love this song! My first roommate, Will, showed me this song freshman year of college. I was very resistant to it. He also showed me Charli XCX’s self titled album as it was released while we were rooming together. Also resistant. I didn’t understand either of the artists at the time. But in retrospect, I’m very glad I had him as a roommate to show me the proper way to be gay. I now love both of the aforementioned artists. Thank you, Will. :)

this is one of the most famous songs ever, so excuse my obvious-posting. And being late to the game. This is actually the song that got me into VU this past year. Sure, “Venus In Furs” is pretty sexy and grimy. I was shocked that the same band that made that song made this song. Gave me pause!
if I have kids this will be my lullaby for them. I sing it to my cat while she’s falling asleep- “sadie says/ that im really sleepy/ and a little hungry too”.
I can’t get over how beautifully observed the lyrics are. Each verse really cuts into something so human… “I hate the quiet places/the cut the smallest taste/of what will be”. Felt. That.

I have taken showering in the comfort of my own home for granted. I started going to the gym recently and I find that the only way I can remain consistent is if I go first thing in the morning. Which means I go straight to work right after. Which means I have to shower in the locker room. Which means I only shower at home when I don’t go to work directly after the gym, so Saturday and Sunday. Surely, I could just “take another shower” if I wanted the comfort of my own shower so bad throughout the week. However, not only is that more effort and time wasted, but also, the wait until the weekend to treat myself to a home shower releases a sort of euphoric catharsis. Taking a dump naked and immediately hopping into the shower. The smell of EOS Pink Champagne body wash emanating through the steamy bathroom. Sky Ferreira shower curtain watching my bare butt as I brush my hair and perform my skin care routine. These are the sort of experiences you can only get twice a week.
